Creative Blogger Award

thatgentmark The splendid Mr Til Turner, wordsmith and writing guru of the Shenandoah Valley, West Virginia, USA, has generously nominated me for a Creative Blogger Award; a tag that encourages us to share some not so well known facts about ourselves and thus get to know each other a bit better.

The Rules

  • Thank the person who nominated you and include a link to their blog.
  • Share five facts about yourself.
  • Nominate ten bloggers and link to their blogs.
  • Notify the bloggers you included.
  • Keep the rules in your post so that your nominees know what to do.

Five Facts About Me

  1. I had a speaking part in the movie Rio Sex Comedy, directed by Jonathan Nossiter of Mondo Vino fame, appearing as the CEO of a multinational in a scene with Bill Pullman and Fisher Stevens. Sadly the film sank without trace and didn’t prove to be the springboard to international superstardom that my evident talent merited. However I do have my very own page on IMDB so if there are any casting agents out there looking for a galactic scale ham, they know where to find me.
  2. I was presented with the English prize at school one year by Rosemary Sutcliff, doyenne of children’s historical novelists. I chose A&E Keary’s Tales of Norse Mythology as my prize.
  3. I find it impossible to sleep more than five hours a night.
  4. I worked in the music industry for several years and managed artists as diverse as Finley Quaye, a Brit Award winner in 1997, and Dream City Film Club.
  5. I have a visceral terror of performing before a live audience (which can usually be overcome if I’m plied with single malt whisky) but my first ever public poetry reading, aged 16, was to a select group including Roger McHugh, author, playwright and Professor of Anglo–Irish Literature and Drama at University College Dublin, and the immortal Seamus Heaney. Let’s just say they humoured me afterwards and leave it at that.

My nominees are, in no particular order: Alison Brackenbury, Josephine Corcoran, Kait King, Nick Waddington, Jennie Orbell, Del Nolan, Rachel Stirling, Isabel Rogers, Clare Archibald and last but by no means least, Caro Ness. Thank you to the above, who I hope will forgive the intrusion into their routine.
